Why A Ladybird 🐞

Childhood Memories

Have you noticed the little ladybird on each of my ceramic pieces? Have you ever wondered why it’s there? For me, it represents more than just a cute detail; it’s a nod to my childhood memories.

As a child, I loved exploring the garden and the joy of finding a ladybird felt like discovering a little treasure. I enjoyed how they would crawl onto my hand when invited. They always seemed friendly to meβ€”easygoing and calmβ€”unlike most other insects that would quickly turn or fly away.

Ladybirds are also incredible for the environment. They play a vital role in keeping gardens and ecosystems in balance. Their natural ability to control pests, especially aphids and other harmful insects, is crucial for helping plants thrive. In the absence of these tiny creatures, many gardens and crops would struggle to thrive.

For me, they symbolize harmony and the quiet resilience of nature, something I aim to reflect in my ceramics. Including a ladybird in each piece feels like a connection to those childhood memories and a reminder of the importance of caring for the natural world. It’s my trademark that speaks to fond childhood memories and a reminder of how much better off we all are both mentally and physically when we embrace it.
